Angeles Hinojosa`s Method: “Changing your perspective on child health”

We will use reflexology to help children through the little health problems that they can suffer during their first days, months and years of life.

Babies are receptive to touch in the corresponding zones of their feet, and the reaction is immediate and positive. In this way we will teach them how to connect with their own feet and help their bodies to cure themselves.

At the end of the workshop, there will be a Q&A on the different problems and doubts raised by families in the workshop, with the possibility of follow-up sessions. In this way participants join with other families.

DATES: Fridays from 10a.m. to 12. From 22nd of March till 3rd of May, 2013

The season of Autumn is associated with the element Metal in Chinese Medicine, with the color white, the sound of weeping, the emotions of both courage and sadness, the lung organ. It is also connected in Chinese thought with the direction west, which is considered to be the direction of dreams and visions.

This movement of Metal and Autumn is naturally associated with the emotion grief, and the physical function of elimination. This time lends itself to letting go of the extra commitments we pack in during the summer, and condensing our socializing to the essence of our inner circle, beginning to conserve our essential energies for the coming winter.

You can recognize these phases in the course of relationships, over a workday, in the progress of a play or novel, in the process of aging, while eating a meal, in the growth of a garden, in a scientific or political or business, while playing a game. All things sprout, bloom, reach completeness, become brittle and die, then rest. Then the cycle begins anew.

Once you learn these basic facts of nature, the dry and brittle phase of autumn, when things are dying – or periods of loss in your life as a whole – become easier to bear.

The heart is the seat of the mind and its main function is to pump oxigen-rich blood through the body. Consciousness, joy, emotional well-being, joy, warmth and memory are attributes of the heart and fire element.

When the fire element is balanced, the heart circulates the oxygenated blood and insures proper assimilation of the beginning of the breakdown of food in the small intestine.

Emotionally if imbalanced, we may lack joy (depression) or have an excess of joy (maniac condition). Exhaustion, heartburn, nervousness and insomnia are indicators of imbalances in this element.

Late Summer

The Five Elements Acupuncture include Late Summer, which is the time of harvest, of nurturing and preparation for autumn and winter. It is the time of transformation between the seasons. The days are starting to get shorter and we find ourselves a bit more serious than in summer. Whether you are preparing for school or for a new business venture or simply going back to work after the holidays.

Physically and spiritually, this period of late summer is a time for slowing down and gathering in. It is a time when we recognize and hold the fruits of our labor.

The Earth element is active at this time and the organs belonging to this element are Spleen and Stomach. Someone with balanced earth energy is a well-grounded, nurturing, compassionate person, good mediators or peacemakers and reliable friends.

When the earth energy is imbalance they can be worriers, prone to pensiveness. They are vulnerable to digestive problems and diarrhea. They may gain weight easily and lose it with difficulty. Their bodies have a tendency to make excessive mucus, and they may suffer from cloudy thinking, muzzy-headedness, lack of clarity and need for sympathy.

The earth color is yellow, like the sun, and the ripened crops, and the root vegetables. Meditation is said to strengthen the earth element.

Foods to add for this season:

Organic lightly cooked vegetables, corn, celery, watercress, turnip, pumpkin, alfalfa sprouts, button mushrooms, radish, caper, brown rice, barley, amaranth, rye, oats, legumes, kidney beans, adzuki beans, lentils, small amount of lean organic meat, poultry and fish, tuna, small amount of whole fruits, lemon, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, seaweed, kelgreen tea, jasmine tea, raspberry leaf tea
